This area is wonderful for people watching, eating and browsing. By choosing a cheap room in budget accommodation you'll have plenty of Euros left over to treat yourself to something special in Capri and some of the biggest names in fashion will happily part you from your money in the many designer boutiques in town.
If you prefer to enjoy the natural environment buses travel around the island linking Capri, Anacapri, the Marina Grande, the Grotta Azzurra, Faro and the Marina Piccola. From Anacapri you can take a chair lift to the top of Monte Solaro as seen from Hotel La Reginella. If your nerves aren't quite up for that you can get wonderful views in the sightseeing boats that circle Capri.
For historians, Capri has a lot to offer.
The Certosa di San Giacomo was built in the 14th century as a fortified monastery and is now a school and exhibition centre. Further into the past, Roman ruins are scattered around the island and can be taken in on easy walks. |

As the residence of Emporer Tiberius, the Villa Jovis was the setting for many a Roman orgy whilst the cliffs provided a handy means of disposing of his enemies. After contemplating all that you'll probably be wanting an ice cream. |
